Mission

Mission

Transportation Engineering has been chartered at the George Washington University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) since 1996.  Its mission is:

  1. To advance the science that relates to “intelligent systems”
  2. To integrate fundamental and applied research with GW academic programs
  3. To train and educate students to become leaders and successful professionals, mainly in the field of transportation.

Development of engineering tools and solutions for real-life problems that directly benefit societies are among the broader impact goals of this organization. Human health has always been the centerpiece of Transportation Engineering mission.  In all areas (education, research and service), Transporation Engineering emphasizes the human-centric aspect of its work focusing public safety and resiliency.

The Transportation Engineering mission is in line with the mission of the GW Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) and the SEAS mission.
